BaFin

BaFin is a German federal financial regulator. At BaFin, the mandate includes banking and securities supervision, while crypto custody licensing forms another part of its authority. Within BaFin, investment firm oversight supports work on MiCA implementation. A separate responsibility for insurance supervision remains with BaFin. Beyond its core remit, BaFin addresses digital asset policy development, payment modernization strategy, market integrity policy, and financial technology governance. A license or supervisory decision by BaFin belongs here when it concerns payment modernization strategy; policy material may instead focus on market integrity policy. Do not classify a proposal on market integrity policy here before BaFin grants formal approval.
