Standard Chartered projects Chainlink's LINK could reach $200 by 2030, citing a surge in tokenized real-world assets and a 25-fold increase in network fee revenue as key drivers for the forecasted growth

Standard Chartered has set an ambitious long-term price target for Chainlink's LINK token, forecasting it could reach $200 by the end of 2030. The projection, outlined in a recent research note from the bank's global head of digital assets research, Geoff Kendrick, is based on expectations that the market for tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) will expand rapidly over the next several years, driving up demand for on-chain data and, by extension, Chainlink's oracle services.

Tokenization and Fee Growth

The report ties LINK's potential price appreciation to the anticipated growth of tokenized assets on public blockchains. Standard Chartered estimates that the total value of tokenized assets could rise from approximately $340 billion today to $4 trillion by the end of 2028. The bank also projects that tokenized and crypto-native assets deployed in decentralized finance (DeFi) could reach $2.7 trillion by 2030. These forecasts are central to the bank's thesis that Chainlink's fee revenue-driven by its role in delivering external data to smart contracts-could increase 25-fold over the same period. The report maps out a series of annual price milestones for LINK, including $13 by the end of 2026, followed by $41, $82, and $133 in subsequent years, rather than a single leap to $200.

Institutional Adoption and Protocol Metrics

Chainlink's oracles are already integrated with major financial institutions and infrastructure providers, including Swift, DTCC, Euroclear, JPMorgan, Mastercard, UBS, Fidelity, and S&P Global, according to the report. One highlighted integration connects Swift's messaging system with UBS to streamline tokenized fund operations. The bank expects that as more traditional financial instruments move on-chain, institutional clients will make up a larger share of Chainlink's fee base. Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) reportedly processed $4.9 billion in volume during the second quarter of 2026, a 353% increase year-over-year. Following a $292 million exploit of a competing bridge in April 2026, more than $7 billion in token value migrated to CCIP. Meanwhile, tokenized RWA trading on decentralized exchanges hit a record $141 billion in July 2026, up 19.5% from the previous month, with public equities driving much of the growth, based on data from CryptoRank.

Risks and Market Uncertainty

Despite the bullish outlook, the report identifies several risks that could prevent LINK from reaching the projected target. These include the possibility that institutional tokenization progresses more slowly than anticipated, that specialist oracle providers erode Chainlink's market share in certain segments, or that technical or configuration failures undermine confidence in the protocol. The note also references the Chainlink Reserve, a fund that converts network fees into LINK tokens, which currently holds around 5 million LINK-worth roughly $40 million at the time of the report-with an estimated two-thirds of all fees since launch flowing into the reserve.

Market Context and Related Developments

Chainlink's dominance in the oracle sector is reflected in its reported total value secured, which the bank places above $110 billion-covering about 70% of oracle-dependent value in DeFi globally and over 80% on Ethereum. Aave V3 alone accounts for 44% of Chainlink's secured value. At the time of the report's publication, LINK was trading near $8.25, down 0.8% on the day. The research note also follows Kendrick's previous DeFi coverage, which set targets for Uniswap, Aave, and Morpho. According to CoinMarketCap data, Chainlink's LINK token had a circulating supply of approximately 587 million as of August 10, 2026, with a market capitalization near $4.8 billion. The protocol's fee revenue and secured value figures are self-reported and may vary depending on data sources and methodology. Trading volumes and migration figures for CCIP and tokenized RWAs reflect activity during the second and third quarters of 2026, as reported by the bank and third-party data providers.

Chainlink's role as a data provider for tokenized assets highlights the growing importance of oracles in the evolving DeFi and RWA landscape. Oracles serve as the bridge between blockchains and external data sources, enabling smart contracts to interact with real-world information such as asset prices, interest rates, and reserve attestations. As more traditional financial products are tokenized and moved on-chain, the reliability, security, and scalability of oracle networks will become increasingly critical. However, the sector remains exposed to risks from technical failures, data manipulation, and competition from emerging providers, making ongoing due diligence essential for users and developers alike.
